The Gen. James A. Van Fleet State Trail
is a 29 mile paved rail trail in East Central Florida. The trail runs from Polk City to Mabel Florida. This trail runs through the 300,000 acre Green Swamp and offers excellent views of nature and wildlife.
The trail is very rural so bring ample supplies of water and snacks.
Wildlife along the Gen. James A. Van Fleet State Trail includes deer, turtles, racoons, armadillos, wild pigs, buzzards, and occasional alligators.
The Gen. James A. Van Fleet State Trail has trailheads at Polk City, Bay Lake, Green Pond Road and Mabel.
