Nature Coast Trail
Nature Coast Trail
Overview
The Nature Coast State Trail
(NCST)
is a 32 mile paved rail trail that is a Y-shaped trail. The three trail ends are in Cross City, Chiefland to and Trenton. The three segments come together at Wilcox Junction near Fanning Springs.
Nature Coast Trail highlights include a historic train trestle that allows trail goers to cross over the Suwannee River and the Andrews Wildlife Management Area.
In 2010 the State of Florida approved the Trenton-Newberry Rail Trail project that will extend the trail 9.3 miles from Trenton, Fl to Newberry, Fl along abandoned CSX railroad lines. The trail extension is made possible using the Florida Forever acquisition funding that is managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Greenways & Trails (OGT).
