Suncoast Trail
Overview
The
Suncoast Trail
is a 41.3 miile paved mile trail that runs along the Suncoast Parkway, a major thoroughfare. The trail followes the entire route of the Suncoast Parkway starting in Northern Hillsborough County and ending in Hernando County. The Suncoast Trail is part of Florida’s Statewide Greenways and Trails System. It was opened in 2001.
While mostly urban the trail does pass through suburban and agricultural areas. The trail's most natural and scenic views come near the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve crossing several creeks and rivers. Some of the areas it flows through or near are Booksville, Land O' Lakes, Springhill and Tampa.
Plans for the Suncoast Trail are to connect to other trails such as the Upper Tampa Bay Trail, Good Neighbor Trail and the Pinellas Trail.
