Overview
The
Withlacoochee State Trail
is a 46 mile paved rail trail from Citrus Springs, Florida to Dade City, Florida. The Withlacoochee State Trail is the longest paved rail trail in the state of Florida.
The trail is a nice mix of residential and nature areas. There is very little urban or traffic areas. The trail passes through the Withlacoochee State Forest, the Croom Wildlife Management Area, and runs along the Withlacoochee River for a time. The Withlacoochee State Trail passes through the towns of Floral City, Inverness, Citrus Springs, and Gulf Junction. One nearby highlight is the Withlacoochee River Trail, a state designated canoe trail.
In the future the Withlacoochee State Trail will be connected to other nearby trail and become part of the Central Florida Loop.
